5-31-18 Interview

Date: 31st May, 2018
Interview: Detective Kinji Kovaks

> Now, Kinji. I just got to ask there are rumors that one little club that’s the apple of your eye ever since you lost Tsunemori, care to talk about it? <

“Usually before I go shaking my tits for the chief, I like to go observe how the professionals do it. Some might say a decorated detective in the most dangerous parts of Japan has no place in an institution of vice in these parts.

The stereotypes of blackmail and murder run rampant on NHK and any national news station that is currently pulling a JAV on Abe but the few chosen know it’s the quietest and safest place in a town of corruption and crime. You won’t run into any reporters that will turn your words of healing into words of poison, nobody gets into any brawls, no one becomes a drunken ass, Nobody even raises their voice in anger...much less a magnificent courtesan or the bartender that delivers you a weakened drink, the place is owned by a lovely woman that knows how to keeps things under control. That’s why I never invite my colleagues here. I wanted to make an exception for my promotion to Chief Inspector, but most of them are young enough to look like my little brother and they’d rather just walk into a Delivery Health and order a girl as if she were a pizza, but here is none of that there. Hell merely looking at a girl with a stare of brutal lust if you’re not on the second or the third floor is considered indecent, it’s not that all these unique gentlemen wouldn’t love to be embraced by a woman’s elegant body and her sexual prowess, it’s just that no one says it out loud.

Most people would call it phoniness, but I like to refer to it as manners. She agrees to be your flame and undress herself, and we agree to enjoy the moment and not make it more than what it is. The smartest girls are on a quiet prowl too, seeking the best clients maybe make friends with someone like me...a person with...Connections or a patron with pockets deeper than the Mariana trench, Everyone wants something but we have to control ourselves or I’d be no better than the punks I arrest...I merely want to feel...even if it’s limited to my endurance. I will respect the policy of the club and will not compromise anyone’s identity or expose the activities in which I engage it."

Childhood

Kinji Kovaks was brought into this world on May 3rd, 1996, in Tokyo, Japan to a young courtesan and a Chief Inspector of the TMPD. From birth, Kinji's life was carefully molded to the narrative of his father's own deceitful design. The scandalous nature of his being afforded consequences of a grand nature, thus leading to pages torn out of a life story that was left incomplete. Thus he was forced to piece together the puzzle that was his own life, rewriting his tale of his own understanding. Of the truth.

His mother was a come-and-go feature of his childhood. Her career was the supporting factor and thus kept her quite busy. Only on the rare nights when she would return home early enough to make dinner and lull him to sleep did she truly express her presence as a mother. She would sing him to sleep with the soft tune of her voice, caressing his hair and whispering sweet 'I love you's to him. Alas, he would not hear them in sleep. The bond he had with his mother was not one held together by love. It existed on codependence for the early years of his life; his need for shelter and care, and her need for love.

Most often than not, Kinji was forced to sustain himself with whatever money his mother was able to leave him in the early mornings before she finally went to sleep. Small wads of ones and twenties left discarded on the counter paid for meager meals, and once she finally crawled into bed, she often found Kinji there asleep. Waiting for her, just as he did every night. And in the mornings, Kinji would wake up alone with lipstick smeared on his cheek from his mother's soft kisses.

Despite all of his hardships, Kinji grew up loved. His mother gave him all the love and attention that she could muster after servicing men for hours on end, even the smallest kiss in the middle of the night was realized and felt, only to be greeted by the sounds of a door quickly closing and clicking shut as his mother left at the crack of dawn to repeat the vicious cycle of balancing a child and her career to provide for him.

His father simply wasn't present. He didn't even recognize the existence of his abandoned family vying to live in blatant ignorance.

During this period of singular existence, Kinji’s signature qualities were realized to a degree. He possessed his father's keen eye and, in observing the other children, learned to blend in despite infighting or drama, became quite skilled at making friends, and even became accustomed to walking home with them.

Kinji often found the comforts of family in the homes of his friends and their parents, especially his best friend Yuuto, who often let Kinji tag along on his little adventures and excursions. Yuuto and Kinji lived and breathed for a brotherhood bond, routinely sharing lunch on the days when Kinji was unable to bring his own or when his mother had left him an especially large amount to spend on something good. Yuuto’s father, Kaito, was a fellow Chief Inspector. Unlike the rest of the department, he had actually taken foot into investigating the identity of his son's best friend. Kaito had actually taken the time to track both Kinji and his mother back to the same home, and with the help of the forensics department and a number of DNA samples, had identified the harsh indisputable truth of Kinji’s origin.

Kaito had already been accustomed to acting as something as a father to Kinji when he was around. Since meeting Yuuto, Kinji had been something of a family member to him. Kaito eventually introduced himself to Naomi. The two wed in 2004. Kinji was finally happy and fulfilled with his family... for the moment.

While Naomi and Kinji’s relationship was a story of making ends meet and mental endurance, his father's story was a dark and different story. Makoto Matsumoto devoted himself to spending his days at the station kissing up to his superiors and doing 'special' work - which generally consisted of being the City Council's lapdog. Makoto was the one who danced around the red tape for those who had less-than-legal pursuits. He often put more time and care into bullying businesses into passing along a portion of profits to him than into the care for those he'd left behind.

In his eyes, Kinji was a severe threat to his power and position. His most unraveling shame, so compromising and exposing danger, even so young. Once the news crawled to him that Kaito had married the mother of his bastard child, panic set in. He would be damned if he was going to let an illegitimate child come between himself and his success. Thus a very dark chapter was set in motion, during which Makoto's limits were stretched well beyond the limits of what he thought he could get away with.

It wouldn’t be long until he saw Kaito as a threat. He was one of the rare few officers in the city that could be considered honest. He was more than aware that he may have had to face intense consequences if his son was discovered. His whole career was on the line. In blood, he decided, there was safety. He couldn’t kill his son. Kinji and Yuuto were Kaito's pride and joys and if anything ever happened to them, Kaito would go to the ends of the earth to find justice. Kaitio, he knew, was the one who had to face the reaper.

In the dead of the night; an unmarked car parked before the Takeshi residence. 3 gunshots sounded out through the night. Within moments, Kinji went from clutching his mother close to awakening to the bright lights of the pediatric ward.
